13 Killed As 3 Female Suicide Bombers Blow Up Chibok Town

Three female suicide bombers today detonated themselves and killed at least 10 people in Chibok, the famous Nigerian town where Boko Haram gunmen had abducted over 300 schoolgirls from a school dormitory about two years ago, officials and witnesses said. Five women kitted with explosives hidden under their gowns entered Chibok town at about 1:30pm.
Three of them detonated the bombs, which killed about 10 people and injured over 30 others. A hospital source said: “so far we have received 13 dead bodies, of which three were the female suicide bombers, while 10 others were those of innocent persons killed in the bomb blast”. The hospital source said the facility at the hospital has since been overstretched because “we have about 30 injured persons that have been brought in so far. We have our limitation here and we are fast running out of medication here. There could be more casualties and we badly need more medication here”. Emmanuel Cosmos, a resident of Chibok who was affected by the bombings said: “I just got a call from my wife who informed me that five of my family members were affected, but she was not sure how many of them got killed in the blast because soldiers would not want residents to get closer to the hospital as a general search is currently going on for the two other female bombers seen earlier together with the three that detonated themselves are still at large. Cosmos, a teacher in Chibok said his wife who was lucky to have survived the blast said my wife saw the “two of the women who detonated themselves at a crowded commercial area where most of the casualties were recorded. The third suicide bomber, who was targeting a military checkpoint near Wumtaku Street, did not record much success because only a soldier was injured there.
